AIDS WALK 2007

Did you know that…

    * Between 40,000 to 60,000 people are newly infected with HIV every year?
    * Half of those newly infected are under the age of 24?
    * 25% of those newly infected do not know it?
    * New York AIDS cases account for approximately 18% of all case in the US?

Despite advancements made in the treatment and prevention of HIV, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the overall rate of infection continues to rise. This year,Lambda Theta Phi formed a team for AIDS Walk New York to help those in our community either affected or infected by HIV/AIDS.

AIDS Walk New York is a 10 kilometer walkathon that benefits Gay Men’s Health Crisis, In addition to several other local AIDS service organizations. For the past 25 years, GMHC has been dedicated to providing equal access to healthcare, cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to their clients, regardless of anyone’s ability to pay.

AIDS Walk New York raises money for the medical and educational advancement in the fight against AIDS.  Latino/as compose a large percentage of those affected by HIV/AIDS.  We would like to thank all the brothers that supported the AIDS WALK. With your generous commitment, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc., raised approximately $650.
